#REDDIT ARQ MOVIE#

After/if you see this movie try to get hold of Daybreak to see this concept executed way better. Those are a few questions. In the end the only small positive for me was the villain Sonny and the actor playing it, dammit Sonny I was rooting for you. Even the faint attempts at world building could have been great if they were fleshed out better. It's a shame, because there are some concepts in this movie that are truly interesting and could have lead to an awesome movie. There's some lazy attempts at twists that never are setup well, nor pays off in the end, and the ending is horrible. The movie peppers you with sci-fi jargon and names of entities that are never explained enough to make us care who they are. It's more of a plot of going through the motions and checking off the boxes. Unfortunately that's not well handled either, there's little to no sense of mystery, we seldom feel afraid for the characters or that they've conquer any hardships. Not doing that is another way to go where being curious about what's going on is fueling the viewer, and try to build the characters along the way. The movie would have benefited for some kind intro scene where they'd shown a little backstory or heck why not even the day leading up to the "looping" to flesh out some story, especially since the movie is contained within the same set for the whole movie. We're given no setup to them, their relation or their goals, leaving us little reason to feel anything about them. They both seemed unlikable, angry and pouty, with little depth nor character. It starts with the lead actors and their characters. Unfortunately it ended up being badly executed, and left little impression on me rather than being a bad indie flick with slightly higher budget. It looked promising, mixing ideas from movies like Ground hog day, Edge of Tomorrow and an old tv-series you might not have seen called "Daybreak" My impression: could have been great, not so great The stations behind you still exist, it's just that you can't get the conductor to turn the train around. So if you look at the 4th axis(time) specifically, imagine it as a railroad, and you're on a train that you can't get off. Time is a dimension, just like X and Y makes the 2 axis of a coordinate graph, and adding a 3rd axis makes a 3d graph, adding the 4th axis creates a timeline.

Time doesn't "advance" with or without the contents of the ARQ circle, it just exists. I.e the 4pm reset in Timeline A still taking the whole contents of the bubble to 3pm in Timeline A. It just identifies who's getting memory retention through the loops. Or they can still use the single Timeline concept, because they can just explain the circle as the limits of who/what is getting transported back in time within the same Timeline. Message goes out at 3:30pm, and it's still the first time the message has gone out in Timeline B. Timeline A: Loop begins at 3:00pm, message goes out at 3:30pm, Reset at 4pm. The circle itself is moving back to it's original starting point in the timeline, maybe in the same timestream, or maybe in an alternate timestream, either way, every time the message gets out to Torus, it's the "first" time that Torus has heard that message from Sonny. This wasn't explained too well, I can see where this confusion could come from. Within the comment sections, recommendations for non-Netflix content will sometimes be allowed.Īlso, if time has looped thousands of time inside the circle and not at all outside the circle, wouldn't it be several years later outside the circle?
